Universities UK (UUK) is the collective voice for 140 universities in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Our mission is to support our world-leading Higher Education sector in increasing its impact locally, nationally and internationally. We deliver this through shaping national and international policy; building public understanding of the quality and impact of the sector; offering support and guidance to our members and, advocating for the UK higher education sector in the UK and overseas. Located in offices in Bloomsbury, London, Universities UK is led by Chief Executive Officer Vivienne Stern and the team comprises 150 staff.
The Director of Policy is a key leadership role at Universities UK, responsible for the development and delivery of policy and research in support of our strategic plan. Our policy work is influential in shaping developments across several areas, including funding, regulation, immigration and efforts to attract international students and staff. We produce evidence-based recommendations for policymakers and our members. This is a critical position, where knowledge of the policy environment is essential, as well as being able to motivate and manage a talented and creative team. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the Director will work closely with UUK’s President and Board and offer support and counsel to members and their teams.
Candidates will be strongly motivated by our mission and vision and will bring a successful track record of leading policy development, analysis and influencing in a comparably complex context. A passion for the transformative impact of higher education is essential.
Universities UK is committed to equality, diversity and inclusion. We welcome and strongly encourage individuals of all backgrounds to apply for this role.
The closing date for applications is 12.00pm GMT on Monday 5th December. For an informal conversation about the role, please contact James Ingram at James.Ingram@perrettlaver.com.
