Would you like to make a significant contribution to developing higher education policy in Wales? We are seeking the right individual to become our Director of Policy and Funding, playing a key role in leading the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales (HEFCW)’s policy and funding programmes as part of our senior management team.

HEFCW regulates and funds higher education in Wales, and we apply our influence and expertise to help deliver Welsh Government priorities for higher education for wider societal and economic benefits.

With significant experience of leading people and managing complexity and ambiguity, the  Director of Policy and Funding will contribute to the overall strategic direction and management of HEFCW and will lead four teams: Student Experience; Widening Access and Inclusion; Skills and Employability; and Research, Innovation and Engagement.

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate significant experience of working at senior level, taking the lead role in strategic development and execution of policies and practices, with appropriate attention to detail and creativity to increase HEFCW’s impact as a funder and influencer. You will have excellent knowledge of the Welsh and wider UK higher education sector and of the public sector environment around higher education policy. You will need personal credibility and effectiveness, being able to represent the organisation at high levels with HE institutions, the Welsh and UK Governments, the other UK HE funding bodies and other external organisations.

You will need well-developed negotiating and influencing skills and, due to HEFCW’s small and specialist nature, you will be extremely adaptable in your approach and able to work with people at different levels, both internally and with external stakeholders.

Byddwch wedi meithrin sgiliau negodi a dylanwadu da ac, oherwydd natur gartrefol ac arbenigol CCAUC, bydd gennych ymagwedd eithriadol o hyblyg gan allu gweithio gyda phobl ar wahanol lefelau, yn fewnol a chyda rhanddeiliaid allanol.
