14th December 2020

The University of Nottingham is a world-leading comprehensive research-intensive institution with a distinctive and pioneering global platform. The University’s ethos is built on the premise that education and research transforms lives and societies around the world. This drives a commitment to excellence in teaching, learning and graduate outcomes, and to unlocking the potential of 45,000 students across campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia. At the University of Nottingham the culture is ambitious, simultaneously creative and collaborative, and without boundaries.

As Director of Planning, Performance and Strategic Change, reporting to the Registrar, you will work closely with the Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor and use your excellent influencing and communication skills to engage, collaborate and work in partnership with academic and Professional Services colleagues across the University.

You will be responsible for leading the development of strategic planning, performance improvement and strategy implementation across the University. The Planning, Performance and Strategic Change directorate is key to the future success of the University and in this role you will further develop the directorate’s performance and impact, enhancing cross-University collaborative working (including working with our China and Malaysia campuses), improving management decision-making, maximising performance and optimising the University’s overall position.

To be successful you must have a proven track record within a large University or similar organisation of leading the delivery of complex, and challenging change programmes. Experience of horizon-scanning, management of data functions, governance and strategic business planning will be essential, and as a critical thinker, you will bring strong analytical skills to support strategy development and operational delivery.

With a thorough understanding and appreciation of the sector, including policies, politics and national and international trends which present current and forthcoming challenges and opportunities, you must be an effective people manager and have the leadership experience to influence and engage at the most senior levels of the organisation.

At the University of Nottingham, you will become part of a pioneering University that provides an exceptional education and delivers transformational research. We are committed to providing competitive employment packages, benefits and rewards, while supporting the wellbeing of our staff to help them reach their full potential.

This is a full-time, permanent opportunity.
