Director of Marketing

Expires

23rd April 2018

The University of Buckingham is unique. Founded in 1976 by Oxford academics, it is the only independent, not-for-profit university in the UK with a Royal Charter and charitable status. The University offers a unique blend of liberal arts and business-focused degrees, complemented by flourishing medical and education schools.

Placed 1st in the UK for Teaching Quality by the Times and Sunday Times ‘Good University Guide 2018’, Buckingham was awarded Gold in the recent Teaching Excellence Framework. Because of its unusual model using small group tutorials and its relatively small student body of around 3,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students, the Buckingham student experience is very personalised. With interest in two-year degrees taking off, the University has seen a 22% increase in demand for places, attracting students from over 90 nationalities. Over the next decade it will more than double in size, offering its distinctive experience to a wider range of UK and international students. Innovation, dynamism, liberal academic freedom and a pioneering spirit are at the heart of the University’s past, present and future.

These ambitious growth plans require the University to appoint a senior marketing specialist to the newly created role of Director of Marketing. The role holder will harness the distinctive University of Buckingham brand to drive first class performance throughout the whole student experience, from student attraction and pre-enrolment through to alumni. By utilising cutting edge innovation across digital, above and below the line marketing, the Director will utilise commercial approaches in an academic environment to position the University of Buckingham as a sector pioneer. Furthermore, the Director will oversee Communications/PR to ensure the University benefits from its regular awards and accolades.

This is a sizeable remit with responsibility for several teams. The successful candidate will be a dynamic marketing expert with a desire to shape the end-to-end student journey in a University which is challenging sector norms. A significant interest in the higher education sector will be underpinned by excellent influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.

Closing date for applications is Monday 23rd April 2018 at midday.
