Director of Governance and Assurance

Expires

30th April 2019

The University of Nottingham is a pioneering university providing an exceptional research-led education and an outstanding student experience for our 46,000 students. We deliver world-leading research that transforms lives, improves societies and shapes the future.

The University’s ethos is built on the premise that education and research transform lives and societies around the world. This drives a commitment to excellence in research, teaching, and learning, and to unlocking the potential of over 9,000 staff and 46,000 students across campuses in the UK, China and Malaysia. At the University of Nottingham the culture is ambitious, simultaneously creative and disruptive, and without boundaries.

The Director of Governance and Assurance is a new role which brings together a range of activities and service units concerned with the governance of the University and its compliance with external statutory, legal and regulatory requirements. As Director you will fully integrate these functions and lead with the common purpose to protect the universities interests, while allowing for innovation and the achievement of institutional objectives.

Reporting directly to the Registrar, Dr Paul Greatrix, this is a significant and challenging role providing leadership and oversight to five units; Governance and Executive Support, Information Security, Health and Safety, Quality and Standards and the Biomedical Services Unit. You will be responsible for creating a culture conducive to compliance with external requirements, in which service heads can operate and lead effectively across the institution. You are a well-qualified, proven leader, with a track record of overseeing the governance and compliance of a large, complex organisation with external statutory or regulatory requirements. You have operated in a change environment and will have strong communication and relationship building skills.

The University is committed to providing competitive employment packages whilst supporting the wellbeing of our staff to help them reach their full potential. We strive to provide a range of benefits and rewards, including leading fitness and health facilities, staff discounts and travel schemes along with an attractive pension.
