Director of Finance

Expires

7th June 2019

Birmingham City University is a large and diverse university with an enviable reputation for providing quality, student focussed learning based on creative and professional practice-based education. With students at the heart of everything we do, we offer a wide and fascinating academic portfolio that includes internationally acclaimed arts; and a world-renowned Conservatoire. Set in the centre of our thriving city, the University makes significant contributions to the regional economy and prides itself on its role in the economic, social and cultural life of the city. Investing £260 million in its campus development, the University boasts state of the art facilities and first-rate staff, developing professionally relevant practical skills and some of the country’s most employable graduates.

The continued growth of Birmingham with the Commonwealth Games in 2022 and the High Speed 2 rail links in 2026 mean that we expect the University to continue to grow and as such we need to invest to continue to meet the needs and ambitions of our city and wider region.  Our new Director of Finance plays a critical and high-profile role in shaping our financial future. The University is financially strong with our real challenge being how, and in what, we invest to get ready for and ahead of the growth in numbers forecasted for Birmingham.

The University seeks appropriately qualified candidates who can bring a real balance of the strategic and operational, someone who both can lead and inspire a large team and is equally comfortable translating complex financial data at Board level. We are keen to explore applications from across the regulated sectors but candidates must be able to demonstrate a proven track record of relevant leadership in an equally complex environment with competing measures of organisational success.

Closing date for applications is midday Friday 7 June 2019.

Birmingham City University is an equal opportunities employer and positively welcomes applications from candidates who are currently underrepresented at this level.
