Birkbeck is seeking an experienced candidate to take up the newly created role of Director of Education Strategy. In this role you will report directly to the Pro-Vice Master for Education and work with senior academic and professional service staff to deliver excellence in education and student experience.  You will have a deep understanding of academic administration best practice, excellent leadership, change management experience and strong interpersonal skills, along with the desire to provide students with an excellent university experience. You will also be aware of the range of pedagogical approaches to university

Birkbeck, University of London, is a world-class research and teaching institution, a vibrant centre of academic engagement and excellence and London’s only specialist provider of evening higher education.  We have a diverse student body of part and full-time students and are a major provider of academic and professional postgraduate education.

Following a review of student experience in 2018 the college developed a plan which is designed to make the College a more navigable, supportive, transparent and consistent for all our students across all areas and levels of study. You will play a key role in development of Education Strategy across the College, the implementation of the Student Experience Review, and preparations for our next application to the Teaching Excellence Framework.This is part of a concerted investment in our student experience for which a new role of Head of Digital Education has recently been recruited. This is an exciting opportunity for someone to play a key role in the future of education and student experience at Birkbeck.

Remuneration

Grade 10 of the College’s London Pay Scale which is £63,551 rising to £65,341 per annum.

The salary quoted is on the College’s London Pay Scale which includes a consolidated Weighting/Allowance which applies only to staff whose normal contractual place of work is in the Greater London area.
