Bishop Grosseteste University (BGU) is a stone’s throw from the magnificent Cathedral, the Castle and the picturesque Bailgate area. Founded in 1862 as a Church of England training college and gaining full university title in 2012, we are in an exciting growth phase following the development of our ten-year strategy.

Since 2013, we have undergone a period of significant development and growth – expanding and developing our academic portfolio, progressing towards research degree awarding powers, renovating and modernising our campus and developing partnerships locally, nationally and internationally. We currently educate over 2,000 students in a range of subjects from Foundation Degree to PhD.

While a small but ambitious institution, we continue to perform exceptionally well in teaching and learning, employability and partnerships. We were recently rated Gold in the first ever Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) assessment (2017), one of only a few universities from across the UK given the top award.

With a growing University portfolio and increasing student numbers – There is no better time to join us.

We are now looking for a dynamic Deputy Vice Chancellor who will deliver the University’s strategy while leading inclusively, driving change and creating impact.

Our ideal candidate will be talented, creative, adaptable and a self-motivated collaborative leader who is driven to deliver results and can effectively convert strategy into deliverables. Candidates for the post will be individuals of significant academic standing and experience with a successful track record of leadership, planning and resource management in an academic institution. They will be committed to the achievement of world-class research and education and its application to society and will possess the necessary personal qualities, drive and enthusiasm to advance the university.

You will provide inclusive leadership that positively influences employees and external stakeholders, resulting in dramatic improvements to the quality and impact of the University’s teaching, learning and student engagement.

Playing a key role as a member of Vice Chancellor’s Executive Group, substantial leadership and management experience within HE with a track record of high level teaching, research and external engagement is a must. Significant academic leadership experience at an institutional level, supported by a strong record of strategic insight, a track-record of successful delivery against KPIs and demonstrable experience of cross-institutional leadership will make you stand-out.

A strong track record of personal research, preferably in an academic field relevant to our portfolio will be critical to your professional credibility. Demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of current and future developments in the HE sector, and the key drivers behind them will go far to support your candidacy.

We are fully committed to the diversity and inclusion agenda, and actively encourage applications from underrepresented groups, particularly those from Black Minority Ethnic backgrounds and women.

Come join our exciting journey and become part of a vibrant and growing team!
