Are you interested in joining a dynamic team recognised recently in sector awards as being amongst the best in the country?

Are you passionate about the impact data and insight can bring to an organisation?

And are you enthusiastic about making a difference to the lives of students?

If so, Middlesex University is seeking to appoint a Business Intelligence Officer to assist in the delivery of its core business intelligence service. The postholder will be responsible for providing a range of BI services to the university including integrating, manipulating and analysing complex datasets, maintaining data warehouses and developing expert knowledge of higher education data. The role is wide-ranging supporting processes from student number and fee forecasting, to predictive analytics, scenario planning and corporate performance management.

You will be adept at using structured query language (SQL) with exceptional Excel skills and preferably with some experience using BI packages such as Tableau. Not afraid to innovate and committed to continuous improvement, you’ll have the skills and knowledge to solve problems and turn data into insight. You will be expected to work closely with colleagues in the Strategic Planning team as well as collaboratively with relevant teams, often translating your technical knowledge into more accessible formats for non-technical audiences. Previous experience of the Higher Education sector is not essential although you will be expected to develop working knowledge of essential datasets and the wider policy landscape.

In joining Middlesex University you’ll become part of a leading London University with nearly 140 years history of being home to innovators and change-makers. Middlesex is about transformational journeys, empowering our students with the tools, attributes and opportunities to turn their potential into success. Our distinctive student experience is defined by innovative teaching and learning, engaging and vibrant campuses and the richness of our diversity.

The role sits within the Strategic Planning team which works across the University in delivering strategic planning, accurate and robust business intelligence and risk management. The team plays a key role in working collaboratively to develop the University’s approaches to a range of strategically important issues and putting students at the heart of our decision making. The postholder will report to the BI Manager and be a member of a small, dedicated and high performing team.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Dr Simon Lewis, Head of Strategic Planning, at s.a.lewis@mdx.ac.uk or 02084114221.
