We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced HR leader to join our Human Resources Senior Management Team in this newly created role. You will be working alongside two other senior management roles reporting into the HR Director – Assistant Director (HR Policy, Reward and Governance) and Assistant Director (ED&I, Wellbeing and Engagement). This role is pivotal in supporting the development and delivery of our People Strategy throughout the University. It is a key role in ensuring the achievement of the University’s strategic goals through effective people management practices.

HR works really closely with our Vice-Chancellor and the executive leadership team and are absolutely key to delivering the University’s strategic goals – there are some really interesting projects going on right now and many in the pipeline so it’s a great time to join us.

The post-holder will be responsible for the following areas:

  • HR Business Partnering, Advice and Casework
  • Talent Management and Resourcing Services
  • People Development
  • HR Employment Services
  • Projects, Systems and Management Information

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Designing and delivering the University’s People Strategy, and ensuring that its staff have the necessary skills, support and knowledge to deliver the University’s Strategy.
  • Anticipating corporate HR issues and proactively resolving problems as they arise.
  • Leading the delivery and development of high-quality HR services and advice to managers, employees and candidates.
  • The delivery of all HR transactional activities and for ensuring that the University’s HR systems are configured and managed effectively.

About you

You will be an experienced HR leader with an innovative and solution-based approach to thinking who will be able to deliver the support needed to drive our People Strategy forward.

You will also have:

  • Up-to-date knowledge of current HR issues with an awareness of broader developments in the field
  • Experience of successfully developing, leading and implementing strategy, policy or operational plans across a large complex organisation.
  • Experience of managing and developing a team towards high performance
  • A natural ability to build relationships with, and influence, senior stakeholders
  • Strong research and analytical skills and an ability to process and sift complex information to support reasoned arguments and recommendations.
