Yes, but does it correlate?
This week we’re looking at on international acceptances via UCAS. Do the same providers have large numbers of students from the (non-UK)EU and also from the rest of the world – or is there another pattern? Or does it correlate?
And the answer is that it does – kind of – correlate (r squared is 0.58). But that lowish number should tell you that there’s something else going on. Broadly, the Russell Group and some pre-92s do better on recruiting international students, but there is much less difference on EU students. For instance, in the 2019 cycle Coventry University recruited 1,205 students from the EU, but only 200 from further afield. Nearby Warwick recruited 1,205 non-EU students, plus 700 from the EU.
