Nottingham Trent University has developed a reputation as one of the UK’s leading modern higher education institutions. To help drive forward its strategic plan, the University is looking to appoint its inaugural Director of Planning to play a key role alongside the NTU leadership team.

Reporting into the Chief Operating Officer and Registrar, the Director of Planning will create and shape a new directorate tasked with leading on the University’s planning and business intelligence activity. The Director of Planning will develop the University’s strategic and operational planning culture, working with senior leaders across the institution to provide robust strategic and operational planning processes that are informed by high quality corporate data and business intelligence. The postholder will have the opportunity to lead this function from its inception, providing a fantastic chance to develop an innovative and sector-leading service.

The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing strategic planning processes in a Higher Education environment. With strong written, numeracy and analytical skills, the candidate will have previous experience in horizon scanning and the application of information to inform organisational decision making through business intelligence. The postholder will have demonstrable experience of leading teams and will be able to inspire those around them. He/she will possess a comprehensive understanding of the external environment that universities are operating in.
