Opportunity to join UUKi as Interim Assistant Director for Policy & Global Engagement on a fixed-term basis, to 31 January 2022.

UUKi represents the UK’s higher education institutions and supports their global engagement. We enable institutions to develop and deliver their international strategies, promoting the collective interests of the sector to create new opportunities for partnership and collaboration.

The role of the Policy and Global Engagement (PaGE) team is to influence the policy, funding, and operational environment so that our member universities can maximise their impact and realise their international ambitions. As Interim Assistant Director, you will be responsible for leading the 10-strong PaGE team, coordinating resources and activity to deliver the objectives set out in our strategic plan.

You will oversee our work on Global Research & Innovation, International Mobility, and Transnational Education, while ensuring that our global engagement work ensures that our members have access to stakeholders, opinion formers and potential collaborators from key partner countries. As part of the management team, you will play an important role in contributing to the overall strategic direction of UUKi.

For this role, you will need political nous and the ability to build and manage relationships with a wide range of senior stakeholders. An organised, independent team leader, you will and have a track record in delivering policy change and of directing cross-functional project teams to achieve organisational objectives. A good knowledge of the policy, funding and operational environment of international higher education and research, and experience as a line manager, is a must.

Please note that this post is available for a fixed term period, to 31st January 2023. The successful candidate must be able to take up to position no later than 5th September 2022

Flexible and remote working will be considered, and we would welcome applications for a secondment to UUKi.
