Academic Skills Advisers (Maths and Statistics), working within the Academic Skills (ASk) Team, are responsible for developing innovative and inclusive maths and statistics support, using their significant experience and expertise in developing students skills. Our advisers work in collaboration with academic staff to develop and embed skills within the curriculum and to enhance student retention, success and satisfaction. Advisers also contribute to the ongoing development and delivery of our extra-curricular online and face-to-face provision, such as workshops, events and activities, resources and delivering one-to-one support.

The Academic Skills team support undergraduate and post-graduate students, therefore you will have a good undergraduate degree in a relevant subject, preferably a higher degree. A recognised teaching qualification is desirable, and experience of providing maths and statistics support at HE or advanced FE level or experience of undergraduate teaching is essential. The evolving teaching and learning landscape in HE presents exciting opportunities for digital development and innovation, and so proficient IT skills and digital fluency are essential.

The Academic Skills Team work across all University of Chester campuses, creating opportunities for our advisers to gain experience of working with a wide range of academics, cohorts and individual students. As you will be expected to be able to work from home and flexibly across all University campuses and sites, a current UK driving licence or willingness to travel is essential.
