Canterbury Christ Church University is seeking to appoint an Assistant Director of Quality and Standards to serve as a pivotal member of the leadership team for Quality and Standards. The role holder will have responsibility for leading on the quality assurance of collaborative partnerships and other key quality assurance agendas across the institution.

The Quality and Standards Office (QSO) functions in a University-wide context and has a central role in ensuring that there is effective academic governance and a rigorous and responsive quality assurance infrastructure to support it. Working in partnership with faculties, schools, academic staff and in particular with Learning and Teaching Enhancement, it plays a lead role in enabling the University to deliver an outstanding academic portfolio, underpinned by an outcomes-led process of continuous improvement. It works to ensure that the University meets its obligations to external bodies, such as the Office for Students, the Quality Assurance Agency and Professional, Statutory and Regulatory  Bodies.

 

The Role

In this new post, the Assistant Director, reporting to the Director of Quality of Standards, will be a key member of the management team for the Quality and Standards Office. They will be expected to provide expert advice and leadership on academic governance, the maintenance of standards and the management and continuous improvement of academic quality across the University.

Quality assurance for the development and maintenance of collaborative partnerships is an important element of the Quality and Standards Office’s work, and the Assistant Director will have a central leadership role in this area working collaboratively with colleagues across the University.

The Assistant Director will be a member of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor’s Senior Leadership Group and will be a core member of the University’s Quality Strategy Group, chaired by the Director of Quality and Standards. The post-holder will be expected to develop strong collaborative working relationships across the University. The Assistant Director will be expected to deputise for the Director of Quality and Standards when required.

 

The Person

You will be first degree level qualified (or equivalent standard) with significant experience in quality assurance and collaborative partnership development and management in higher education. You must be able to demonstrate the ability to lead others, work collaboratively and communicate effectively.
