The post-holder will be responsible for the strategic oversight of the VLE and its Ecosystem. They will engage and work collaboratively with key internal and external stakeholders to maximise the capability and capacity of the VLE to enhance the student experience both on and off campus

 

The post holder will work with the Assistant Director for Learning Environments to ensure the VLE is well placed to support the delivery of University strategy around: the “digital first” agenda, the ambitious plans for Transnational Education and  internal and external measures of accountability,  including  alignment  with the expectations of the TEF framework.

 

The post holder will  also ensure successful  management of staff and student expectations in terms of VLE 24/7 support.

 

Main duties and responsibilities

Provide strategic oversight of the VLE and its Ecosystem, facilitate institutional awareness of its capability and capacity and ensure it offers a robust and reliable service including strategic management of support desk and response coordination.  Identifies and anticipates future requirements relating to the strategic management of the VLE and its Ecosystem. Work collaboratively with the IT Service Desk to deliver seamless application/technical support.

Work with Senior Academic stakeholders and staff to gain commitment, co-operation, feedback and  support and understand  their needs and aspirations with regard to the role of the VLE and its Ecosystem to enhance the overall student experience in line with the University Digital Education strategy.

Commission the production of high level reports to inform senior academic staff and stakeholders on the usage of and engagement with the VLE- via the use of meaningful macro and micro data against internal and external benchmarks. Articulate to senior stakeholders the benefits and impact of meaningful data to students, academics and the institution as a whole.

In conjunction with the Assistant Director, proactively develop exceptional collaborative working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders and actively consult (including liaison with with  3rd party suppliers) to develop  a high level strategic medium and long term roadmap that  evaluates emerging learning technologies via a transparent  evidence based approach ( and produce business cases where appropriate) to facilitate strategic change in order to support a seamless digital first student experience that will respond to both  institutional business need and align with the University Digital Education strategy .

To undertake such other duties as may be required from time to time to further the work of the Hub, Academic Services or the University.
