Through the process the panel will assess whether candidates meet the criteria for the pay band 7 or pay band 8 role. Please indicate in your application if you do not want to be considered for either role.

The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) is responsible for distributing funds for teaching and research in universities and colleges in England. Our aim is to create and sustain the conditions for a world-leading system of higher education which transforms lives, strengthens the economy, and enriches society. We work in partnership to promote and fund high-quality, cost-effective teaching and research, meeting the diverse needs of students, the economy and society.

The government has recently introduced the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) – a new scheme to recognise and reward excellent learning and teaching in higher education. HEFCE is implementing the TEF on behalf of the DfE and will publish the TEF Year Two outcomes in June 2017. For further information see http://www.hefce.ac.uk/lt/tef/.

We are now building a team to implement the TEF subject pilots, for two years from 2017-18. The pilots will test and develop approaches to assessing teaching at subject level. If you would relish the opportunity to contribute to this development, working in a fast-paced environment and with a wide range of stakeholders across the UK, we would like to hear from you.

All posts are Bristol based and fixed-term for 23 months. Part time and job-share working will be considered.

Please note the implementation of the pilots will be subject to confirmation by the Government after the general election. We are commencing recruitment of staff in advance of a final decision on piloting, with a view to ensuring we are positioned rapidly to implement the pilots in the event that the Government decides to proceed. Candidates should be aware, though, that confirmation of the appointments will be subject to this decision. We will update shortlisted candidates prior to interview.

Benefits include a comprehensive staff development programme, 25 days` annual leave, and the opportunity to join the Civil Service Pension scheme.

For information about each of the roles and how to apply please visit our website http://www.hefce.ac.uk/careers/. CVs will not be accepted.

Closing date: 23:55pm on the 25th June 2017
