Policy Manager, Public Policy

Expires

19th December 2017

Public Policy Southampton is the University of Southampton’s hub for public policy engagement. We increase the policy impact of the University’s research through a number of mechanisms, including building links with policymakers and other external stakeholders, training university staff in the policymaking process, and delivering specific policy impacts as part of funded research.

Part of the core team of 4 staff, you will lead the Policy Fellows programme (to bring civil servants to Southampton), and will also lead on designing and delivering many of the grant-funded impact activities. International policy activity is a new and growing area of work and you will work with the Vice-President (International) and the Director of Public Policy to deliver this. Opportunities exist for international travel and for the delivery of training courses. You will also deputise for the Director as required.

You will have a good knowledge of the UK policy making process, an ability to network at all levels across Government and the University, an ability to deliver multiple projects in parallel, and excellent communication skills (in particular the drafting of complex information for a policy audience). The role includes budgetary and line management responsibilities.

The position is tenable from 15 January 2018.
