The higher education sector is going through a period of change with the Higher Education and Research bill going through Parliament and the subsequent introduction of the Office for Students and a new regulatory and quality framework in England. As part of these changes, provision is made for the designation of a quality body to undertake quality assessment functions, and a key strategic aim of the QAA is to achieve this designation. We are looking for a Head of Quality Design and Designation to lead QAA’s input to the design and establishment of the new framework, and our work to achieve designation.

You will be responsible for leading QAA’s contribution to the design of and transition to the new regulatory and quality framework for Higher Education in England which includes responsibility for shaping and delivering QAA’s designation project. Internally, you will work with senior managers and the Executive to ensure an Agency-wide approach to our input and to the project. You will also work with Government officials and other relevant agencies involved in design and implementation of the new framework.

You will have an understanding of quality and standards in higher education, and proven experience of leading organisation wide projects along with strong organisational and planning skills to be successful in this role. Your understanding of the higher education sector along with your strong influencing and collaborative skills will ensure that QAA plays a central role in planning and implementing the new framework.

This is a full time, fixed term post for 2 years in the first instance, and we will consider appointment on a secondment basis. The role is based in our Gloucester office, but may involve travel throughout the UK and working from one of our other offices on occasions.
