The Open University (OU) is UK’s largest academic institution and a world leader in flexible distance learning. As a member of the University’s senior team, this role will lead the OU in Wales to reach even more students across the country, including those from priority groups and communities as identified by HEFCW and Welsh Government.

The role holder will also:

  • Lead the development and delivery of the OU’s strategy in Wales in line with its corporate strategy, ‘Students First: strategy for growth’.
  • Assume the role of the OU’s ambassador and figurehead in Wales, building effective, long term and trusting relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
  • Lead, inspire and motivate the OU team in Wales, ensuring activities are representative of, and relevant to, Welsh students and closely aligned to the devolved and diverging educational landscape in Wales.
  • Support the OU’s wider transformation programme to create a more resilient and flexible organisation that attracts and nurtures talent and is well placed for the future.

 

Candidates will have a first degree or equivalent and a proven track record of operating in a relevant, senior leadership role within or outside of Wales. You will have led significant external stakeholder engagement, organisational change and improvements, and have an understanding of and strong empathy for Wales.
