Director of Research and Enterprise

Expires

30th October 2017

The University of Leicester is led by discovery and innovation, committed to the belief that a university should empower, inspire and innovate. Our community is lively and energetic, with dedicated and talented people across the globe anticipating, working towards, and helping to shape the future. Together our staff and students are working to change the world for the better; there has never been a more exciting time for you to join us.

In 2014, the Research Excellence Framework reinforced the value of our research, with 75 per cent judged as internationally excellent. Our academics are continuing to build and develop this world-leading research, and by 2021, we expect the REF to demonstrate our influence yet further; by working together at the intersection of disciplines, we are addressing complex questions of worldwide significance.

We are committed to working with industry and public sector partners, nationally and internationally, locally and throughout the East Midlands, to apply our work to relevant, real-life problems. Whether it’s our revolutionary work in DNA fingerprinting, breakthroughs in the treatment of degenerative diseases, or the development of a new National Space Park, the education and knowledge you will find here acts as a power for good, changing lives.

We are now seeking an innovative, dynamic leader with the management experience to lead the Research and Enterprise Division. As the most senior Professional Services leader to have focused responsibility on supporting the University’s research strategy, you will be responsible for driving activity and impact across enterprise, knowledge exchange and business development. The role requires significant strategic acumen, and the interpersonal skills to build networks internally and externally, acting as an ambassador for our research. Reporting directly to the Registrar and Chief Operating Officer and working closely with the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Research and Enterprise), the Director will need to be able to identify opportunities, and provide the appropriate support to our academic community to ensure these opportunities are realised.
