Wonkhe / HESA Building a future for graduate destinations

Graduate destinations are back on the agenda. The government, the public and the media are looking for new ways to demonstrate the value of higher education. We’ve always known that universities transform people’s lives – but there’s an unstoppable clamour for data to demonstrate the economic value of HE. It’s always been the case that data can be used, abused or just generally mis-understood. And it’s certainly undervalued in policymaking.

But here’s the good news: how we collect and analyse graduate outcomes data in the future is up to us. The Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) who have been running the Destination of Leavers Survey (DLHE) and its predecessors for 21 years, are now consulting widely on the future of assessing graduate outcomes.

Wonkhe is proud to be working in partnership with HESA to help the sector engage as widely and as deeply with these critical issues at a turning point for sector policy.

The conference starts at 9am and finishes at 1pm.

The conference will bring together leading experts to learn about, debate and shape these important issues. It will consider what information students want, and how will this be used by government and institutions. What are the risks associated with particular measures, such as earnings, and how can the sector mitigate against these? Is there still a role for a DLHE? How does this all fit together in the numerous challenges set by the government in the White Paper?

Delegates will have the opportunity to: hear from experts in the field; to debate the issues raised by HESA’s consultation with HESA staff; and to consider the implications of these important issues for their own internal planning.
